Accepting art submissions now for the 2020 Heights Unites Music & Arts Festival!

The 3rd Annual Heights Unites Music & Arts Festival is just around the corner. For more info check out our Facebook Page here.

OVERVIEW: The Heights Unites Music & Art Festival was founded in 2017 under the leadership of the South Seminole Heights Civic Association Board in collaboration with The Brew Bus in Seminole Heights. This annual 1-day festival features an amazing list of artists and musicians curated by locals in the business who have successfully put together a “Who’s Who” of the local arts scene. Well over a thousand residents and friends of Seminole Heights have attended the event each year, and in doing so, helped raise money to support local community improvement projects in South Seminole Heights. Additionally, funding each year is set aside to endow a $25k scholarship that will pay out annually to a Hillsborough High School student who plans to attend the University of South Florida. Our neighbors know how to have fun while raising money for great causes!

WHEN: Saturday, February 22, 2020, 2:00pm - 10:00pm (exhibiting artists 2pm-8pm)

WHERE: Brew Bus Brewing, 4101 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33603

HOW TO GET INVOLVED:

EXHIBITING ARTISTS:
We welcome fine artists from all backgrounds and mediums to submit artwork for an opportunity to showcase and sell their work to a diverse expected audience of 2,000 people. No submission fees! Artists selected to exhibit their work during the festival are required to pay a $50 booth fee, but they keep 100% of art sales. Electricity hook-ups are provided. Artists provide their own 10'x10' tent, extension cords, lights, tables, chairs, etc. Tents must be secured with weights since they will be located on a blacktop surface. Volunteers will be available to help artists unload, setup, breakdown and re-load. In addition, exhibiting artists receive a welcome goody bag and 2 free festival tickets. Only 25 artists will be selected for this years event. Link to see pictures from last year's festival: http://www.sshca.org/heights-unites/

POSTER DESIGN CONTEST:
No submission fees! This is a juried opportunity to create an iconic image that will be used for the festival's marketing and promotional materials. All forms of artwork that can be easily replicated and printed as a poster and on t-shirts will be considered. The winning design will successfully represent the Seminole Heights community and the festival's emphasis on music & art. Additionally, judges will be looking for entries that have strong aesthetics, transcendence, and marketing functionality. Artist with the winning design receives $500, free exhibiting artist booth, 4 free tickets to the festival and recognition on social media and at the event. Previous designs below:

STREET ART TRAIL CONTEST:
A pilot for the Street Art Trail was started in 2018 and has been funded by FDOT to add 9 more installations. The purpose of this initiative is repuporse old stormwater drains into art installations. Artists are encouraged to submit one design that will be juried by attendees of the festival. Only 50 designs will be chosen for judging. The top 9 designs will receive $750 commission fee and $100 for supplies ($850 total). Installation will take place on later dates to be determined after the festival. The dimensions of the final winning works vary as they are stormwater drains (e.g. 4’x4’, 5’x3’, etc.) - design submissions can be any size, but for the event we will blow them up for display to approx. 18”x24”.
